The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) is pleased to announce that Version 6 (Collection 6) reprocessing is complete for our MODIS sea ice data sets. Forward–processing will continue for both Version 5 and Version 6 for approximately one year, after which Version 5 forward-processing will be discontinued. To obtain MODIS Version 6 sea ice data, visit the MODIS collection. Questions? Contact NSIDC's User Services Office.
We are pleased to announce that all data from the NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission are now available at the National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) and the NASA Alaska Satellite Facility Distributed Active Archive Center (ASF DAAC). The two NASA DAACs jointly manage SMAP science data on behalf of the NASA ESDIS Project. SMAP combines coincident L-band radar and radiometer measurements to produce global, high-resolution soil moisture and freeze/thaw estimates.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the online search interface for the Dehn Arctic Sea Ice Charts database has been updated. Improvements include the ability to define your search by region and time period at the same time, the search results now list how many images were returned, and a "Select/Deselect All" button has been added to the ordering page for ease in selecting images.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a new data set, Ultra-High Resolution LA-ICP-MS Results: DO-21 Rapid Warming Event. These data contain the results of Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) performed on an archive of the GISP2 ice core containing the rapid climate warming of Dansgaard-Oeschger Event 21.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a new data set, LA-ICP-MS Results: 3 Siple Dome A Glacial Age Archives. These data contain the results of Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) performed on an archive of the Siple Dome A ice core containing the rapid climate warming of Dansgaard-Oeschger Event 21.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a new data set, Low-res d15N and d18O of O2 in the WAIS Divide 06A Deep Core. This data set is a low-resolution set of measurements of d15N of N2 and d18O of O2, along with dO2/N and dAr/N2 supporting data, in the WAIS Divide 3405 m long ice core recovered in 2011.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a new data set, WAIS Divide Ice Core CO2. These data are measurements of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the WAIS Divide Ice Core, WDC06A, Antarctica.
Version 4 Aquarius L2 Swath Single Orbit Soil Moisture Data, and Version 4 Aquarius L3 Gridded 1-Degree Soil Moisture data are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The Level-2 data set contains global soil moisture estimates. The Level-3 data sets contain gridded daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual global soil moisture estimates. NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a 1 km gridded MASIE sea ice product in addition to the 4 km version. The Multisensor Analyzed Sea Ice Extent (MASIE) helps to give the best available Arctic-wide answer to the question: Where is Arctic sea ice now? MASIE products provide measurements of daily sea ice coverage for the Northern Hemisphere and 16 Arctic regions in a polar stereographic projection in 4 km grid cells and now in 1 km grid cells as well. In addition, a full Northern Hemisphere time series graph has been added to the MASIE Time Series Plots.
