The Greenland Ice Mapping Project (GIMP) Digital Elevation Model is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set, funded by NASA's Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, consists of an enhanced resolution digital elevation model (DEM) for the Greenland Ice Sheet. The DEM was constructed by combining ASTER and SPOT 5 DEMs over the ice sheet periphery and margin with AVHRR photoclinometry for the interior and far north, and calibrating the data to mean elevations obtained by the Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) that flew on the Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation (ICESat) satellite. For more information and to obtain the DEM, visit MEaSURES Greenland Ice Mapping Project (GIMP) Digital Elevation Model (DOI: 10.5194/tc-8-1509-2014).
