A variety of field data from the Soil Moisture Active Passive Validation Experiment 2016 Manitoba (SMAPVEX16 Manitoba) validation campaign is now available at the National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). NSIDC DAAC would like to announce a change to data access for the MEaSUREs Antarctic Boundaries for IPY 2007-2009 from Satellite Radar, Version 2. Data access is now solely through our primary archive at: https://n5eil01u.ecs.nsidc.org/MEASURES/NSIDC-0709.002/.
The December 2017 data is now available for the MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and 1B, Version 2 data set at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.

NOAA@NSIDC has updated their September and March Sea Ice Index sea ice animations in Google Earth. The updates include adding September 2017 to the animation and updating all images to Sea Ice Index Version 3, the latest version of this data set. The new data set, that contains in situ measurements of soil moisture and bulk density, is the first of many for the SMAPVEX16 Manitoba campaign. Though minimal information is presently available, the data set is available as an early release.

The Daily Lake Ice Phenology Time Series Derived from AMSRE and AMSR2, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, provides 5 km ice phenology retrievals describing daily lake ice conditions (ice-on/ice-off) over the Northern Hemisphere.

The NASA IceBridge Ku-Band Radar L1B Geolocated Radar Echo Strength Profiles, Version 2 data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has undergone a correction for data collected on 19 May 2016. The error affected the calculation of the elevations of the internal layers, as well as the layer thicknesses for that date only. The data for 19 May 2016 have been reprocessed and replaced with the corrected data.
