The LVIS Classic L1B Geolocated Return Energy Waveform, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains geolocated return energy waveforms collected by the NASA Land, Vegetation, and Ice Sensor (LVIS), an airborne lidar scanning laser altimeter.
New data access options are available for the MEaSUREs Phase-Based Antarctica Ice Velocity Map, Version 1 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The direct download location for this MEaSUREs (Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments) data set has changed.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the “International Ice Patrol Annual Count of Icebergs South of 48 Degrees North, 1900 to Present” data set. The data are being released in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) International Ice Patrol (IIP). Every year during the ice season, the IIP surveys icebergs in the vicinity of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland within the western Atlantic Ocean and issues daily iceberg charts. The number that drift south of 48° N is significant because these pose a larger threat to transatlantic shipping.
The IceBridge UAF Lidar Scanner L1B Geolocated Surface Elevation Triplets, Version 1 data set has been updated to include 2019 Alaska campaign data from 22 September 2019 through 28 September 2019 at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains scanning laser altimetry data points acquired by the airborne University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Glacier Lidar system.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Sheet Mosaics from SAR Data, Version 1 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated with new filenames in the GDAL virtual format (.vrt) files. The file names for the 20 m uncalibrated mosaic were also updated.
The SnowEx17 Ground Penetrating Radar, Version 2 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated to Version 2. This data set contains the results of a ground penetrating radar survey conducted at Grand Mesa, Colorado. Data include the two-way travel time, calculated snow depth, and calculated snow water equivalent. Data were collected between 08-25 February 2017 as part of the 2017 SnowEx campaign. Changes to Version 2 include:
The Canadian Meteorological Centre (CMC) Daily Snow Depth Analysis Data, Version 1 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated with a new file naming convention and a reorganized directory structure. Data for 2019 has also been added.
The IceBridge-Related DMS-Derived L4 Sea Ice Surface Cover Classification Orthorectified Images, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) from 23 March 2010 through 25 July 2017. The data set comprises reprocessed, orthorectified images depicting labels that indicate the sea ice surface category.
The IceBridge CAMBOT L1B Geolocated Images, Version 2 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated from a basic to a standard level of service. Please see our Adding clarity to NSIDC data support with new Level of Service (LoS) model article more information.
The IceBridge-Related DMS-Derived L4 Sea Ice Surface Cover Classification Images, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC)) from 23 March 2010 through 16 April 2018. This data set contains reprocessed images depicting labels that indicate sea ice surface category created by processing IceBridge DMS L0 Raw Imagery with the Open Source Sea-ice Processing Algorithm.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Velocity Maps from InSAR, Version 2 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, provides velocity estimates determined from Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data for major glacier outlet areas in Greenland beginning 12 June 2008.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and -1B, Version 2 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated with mosaics through September 2019. This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, provides 6 and 12-day 50 m resolution image mosaics of the Greenland coastline and ice sheet periphery beginning in January 2015.
NOAA@NSIDC would like to make users aware of a data update and an error notice for the NOAA@NSIDC Gridded Monthly Sea Ice Extent and Concentration, 1850 Onward data set.
