The temporal coverage for the ICESat-2 L4 Monthly Gridded Sea Ice Thickness, Version 1 (IS2SITMOGR4) data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been extended to include data for September 2019 (supplementing the existing data for the 2019-2020 winter season), as well as September 2020 through April 2021.  This data set reports monthly, gridded winter sea ice thickness across the Arctic Ocean.
The CALFIN Subseasonal Greenland Glacial Terminus Positions, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains polyline and polygon shapefiles of glacial terminus positions in Greenland from 1972 to 2019. The temporal resolution is sub seasonal and the spatial resolution is approximately 30m. Shapefiles are available for individual glaciers and there are also shapefiles that contain all of the glaciers that were studied.
The DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Daily Polar Gridded Brightness Temperatures, Version 6 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been released through 5 June 2021.
The Near-Real-Time SSM/I-SSMIS EASE-Grid Daily Global Ice Concentration and Snow Extent (NISE) data set, available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), now includes data derived from all available Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS) sensors. Version 5 of the NISE data set contains data from the F18 SSMIS sensor. The newly released data from the F16 and F17 will be provided in Version 3 and Version 4, respectively. Data from F16, F17, and F18 will all be updated in near-real-time as new data are processed.
The SMAP Radiometer Twice-Daily rSIR-Enhanced EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperatures, Version 2 data set accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), is now available. The data set has been reprocessed using SMAP L1B Radiometer Half-Orbit Time-Ordered Brightness Temperatures, Version 5 as input. This input is different enough from version 1 that users should not mix gridded version 1 and 2 data.
NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of the Arctic Sea State 2015 Field Campaign, Version 1 data set. The U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) Sea State Departmental Research Initiative (DRI) field campaign was conducted in October and November of 2015 in the Beaufort Sea in order to better understand how waves and ice interact as Arctic ice advances in late autumn. As sea ice has retreated under the influence of warming climate, fetch (distance of open water over which wind can act to build waves) has grown, resulting in an increasingly dynamic sea state.
NOAA@NSIDC and the U.S. National Ice Center are pleased to announce that the IMS Daily Northern Hemisphere Snow and Ice Analysis data set is now available in NetCDF format for the 4 km and 1 km gridded data.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the weekly updating of the U.S. National Ice Center Arctic and Antarctic Sea Ice Concentration and Climatologies in Gridded Format, Version 1 data set has resumed. Data from 14 April 2021 onwards are now available, extending the series that begins on 6 January 2003. The data set will continue to be updated on a weekly basis. Access to the data and documentation is available from the data set web page at NSIDC.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the daily updating of the U.S. National Ice Center Daily Marginal Ice Zone Products, Version 1 data set has resumed. Data from 14 April 2021 onwards are now available, extending the series that begins on 19 October 2004. The data set will continue to be updated on a daily basis. Access to the data and documentation is available from the data set web page at NSIDC. Data Set DOI: doi: https://doi.org/10.7265/ggcq-1m67
The Two-dimensional Velocities of Ice Mélange from Jakbobshavn Isbræ, Greenland, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains velocity components and resolved speeds for the proglacial ice mélange at Jakobshavn Glacier, Greenland. An ice mélange is defined as a tightly packed collection of icebergs and sea ice which abut the terminus of a glacier.
The IceBridge CAMBOT L1B Geolocated Images, Version 2 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated with improved georeferencing for nine sea ice flights. This data set contains high-resolution imagery taken with the Continuous Airborne Mapping By Optical Translator (CAMBOT) system over Antarctica and Greenland.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 3 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated. New data have been added so the data set now spans 1 March 1985 - 31 December 2020. This data set is part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program. It consists of mean monthly velocity maps for selected glacier outlet areas.
The Daily Global Land Parameters Derived from AMSRE and AMSR2, Version 3 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), is now available.
