On 02 May 2011, NSIDC will discontinue distribution of Preliminary Level-3 AMSR-E data.

Brightness Temperatures from the F17 satellite are now available for the DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Polar Gridded Brightness Temperatures data set, and span the period 14 December 2006 through 19 August 2010.

On 26 January 2011, the AMSR-E/Aqua L2A Global Swath Spatially-Resampled Brightness Temperatures were updated to V11 (Validated 11 - Stage 3).

Preliminary NASA IceBridge LVIS L1B Geolocated Return Energy Waveforms data for Antarctica and Greenland 2009 are now available from NSIDC. The current data set contains one file for 2009 Greenland and one file for 2009 Antarctica. Remaining campaign files will be made available soon. See the NASA LVIS L1B Geolocated Return Energy Waveforms Web page at https://nsidc.org/data/ilvis1b for more information.

NASA IceBridge LVIS L0 Raw Ranges data for 2009 Antarctica and 2010 Greenland are now available from NSIDC. See the NASA IceBridge LVIS L0 Raw Ranges Web page at https://nsidc.org/data/ilvis0 for more information.

Data users can now subscribe to receive new AMSR-E and MODIS data via an RSS data feed as soon as they are ingested at NSIDC.

Updated Level-2 AMSR-E data products were released by the AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) on 20 October 2010. NSIDC is also pleased to announce that AMSR-E Level-2 products are now available only 20 hours from the time of observation.

NSIDC has released MEaSUREs Global Record of Daily Landscape Freeze/Thaw Status, Version 01 (NSIDC-0477). This data set provides a global record of daily freeze/thaw status from 1988 to 2007. The data set is based on data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I).

NSIDC has released MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Sheet Velocity Map from InSAR Data (NSIDC-0478). This data set is part of the NASA Making Earth Science Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Project.

Due to a power outage at the Goddard Space Flight Facility on 22 September 2010, there were satellite data losses for the MODIS/Terra and MODIS/Aqua sea ice and snow products.

Preliminary Level-2 Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) data will be discontinued on 18 October 2010. Also beginning on this date, the latency of standard Level-2 AMSR-E science products will be reduced from five days to 20 hours from the time of observation.

Updated Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) Level-3 data products were released by the AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) on 27 August 2010.

New versions of the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) Level-3 sea ice data products were released by the AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) on 27 August 2010.

This is a joint announcement with NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) is part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The DMSP SSM/I Pathfinder Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures data set has been updated to include data from 01 July 2008 through 29 April 2009.
