ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Monthly Gridded Dynamic Ocean Topography, Version 3
Data set id:
ATL19
DOI: 10.5067/ATLAS/ATL19.003
This is the most recent version of these data.
Version Summary
Major changes for Version 3 include:

-Removed the effects of sea state bias from DOT
-Updated the prerequisites for calculating bin center values to require a minimum of four ocean segments and two orbits in the cell and the surrounding eight cells
-Updated the calculation of ssb_avgcntr and ssb_dfwcntr
-Used ANC50 for land-masking and added landmask to each region folder
-Updated processing to use only the ATL12 data that have times included in the time range requested in the control file
-Implemented along-track pre-grid filtering by latitude bands
-Corrected dot_hist_albm to be aggregate probability functions of DOT
-Populated parameter ice_conc_albm in the top groups and ice_conc in the beam sub-groups
-Added grid data for podppd_flag_prcnt and podppd_flag_prcnt_albm
-Added an override flag (podppd_edit) to /ancillary_data/ocean/

Overview

This data set contains monthly gridded dynamic ocean topography (DOT), derived from along-track ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3A Ocean Surface Height product (ATL12). Monthly gridded sea surface height (SSH) can be calculated by adding the mean DOT and the weighted average geoid height also provided in this data set. Both single beam and all-beam gridded averages are available in this data set. Single beam averages are useful to identify biases among the beams and the all-beam averages are advised to use for physical oceanography.
