MEaSUREs has added SSM/I data from the F14 platform to the MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The temporal coverage is 9 July 1987 through 4 October 2011. This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
The MEaSUREs Annual Antarctic Ice Velocity Maps, 2005-2016 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, provides 11 annual maps of Antarctic ice velocity from 2005-2016. The maps are assembled using ALOS PALSAR, ENVISAT ASAR, RADARSAT-1, RADARSAT-2, Sentinel-1, TerraSAR-X (TSX), TanDEM –X (TDX) SAR data, and Landsat-8 optical imagery acquired between 2005 and 2016.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the Google Earth animation for the maximum annual Arctic sea ice extent has been updated. The March 2017 maximum has been added to the time series in the KMZ file. To view these, and other, Google Earth files, visit the NSIDC Data on Google Earth web page.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the Unified Sea Ice Thickness Climate Data Record, 1947 Onward has been updated with data through 01 January 2017 and now also contains Antarctic data. This climate data record is the result of a concerted effort to collect as many observations as possible of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice draft, freeboard, and thickness and to format them consistently with clear documentation, allowing the scientific community to better utilize what is now a considerable body of observations.
Terra MODIS experienced a data outage stemming from the Science Formatter Equipment (SFE) Assembly. All data between time stamps 2017/114 0320 and 2017/114 1950 are unavailable and likely unrecoverable. Level 3 daily products remain unavailable since the beginning of the outage because of post outage data recovery and QA/QC procedures. However, Level 2 products have been recovered and are available outside of the aforementioned time stamps. If you have any questions, please contact NSIDC User Services at nsidc@nsidc.org.
MEaSUREs has added SSM/I data from the F11 platform to the MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The temporal coverage is now 9 July 1987 through 4 October 2011. This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of the Sea Ice Index in GeoTIFF format. GeoTIFF files are available for both concentration and extent data for both hemispheres at daily and monthly resolutions. The daily and monthly GeoTIFF files provide the Sea Ice Index concentration and extent data in a georeferenced format. The GeoTIFF images are single band images with an embedded color table to make visualizations of the dataset in GIS programs as easy as possible.
The International Glaciological Society will hold an International Symposium on ‘Polar Ice, Polar Climate, Polar Change’ at the University of Colorado in Boulder on 14–19 August 2017. The meeting will take place at the University Memorial Center’s Glenn Miller Ballroom.
The DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Pathfinder Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated through 31 March 2017. Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/3EX2U1DV3434.
