NSIDC has released MEaSUREs Global Record of Daily Landscape Freeze/Thaw Status, Version 01 (NSIDC-0477). This data set provides a global record of daily freeze/thaw status from 1988 to 2007. The data set is based on data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I).

NSIDC has released MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Sheet Velocity Map from InSAR Data (NSIDC-0478). This data set is part of the NASA Making Earth Science Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Project.

Due to a power outage at the Goddard Space Flight Facility on 22 September 2010, there were satellite data losses for the MODIS/Terra and MODIS/Aqua sea ice and snow products.

Preliminary Level-2 Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) data will be discontinued on 18 October 2010. Also beginning on this date, the latency of standard Level-2 AMSR-E science products will be reduced from five days to 20 hours from the time of observation.

Updated Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) Level-3 data products were released by the AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) on 27 August 2010.

New versions of the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) Level-3 sea ice data products were released by the AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) on 27 August 2010.

This is a joint announcement with NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) is part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The DMSP SSM/I Pathfinder Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures data set has been updated to include data from 01 July 2008 through 29 April 2009.

NASA IceBridge LVIS L2 Geolocated Surface Elevation Product (ILVIS2) data for Greenland 2009 are now available from NSIDC. See the IceBridge LVIS L2 Geolocated Surface Elevation Product Web page at https://nsidc.org/data/ilvis2 for more information.

AMSR-E Level-3 ocean products have been updated to Validated 4 (V04-Stage 1). The new V04 algorithm incorporates measures to further reduce Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), and the products now include an RFI angle grid as a parameter.

Quarterly processing is complete for both the AMSR-E/Aqua Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures and AMSR-E/Aqua Daily Global Quarter-Degree Gridded Brightness Temperatures data sets.

NSIDC announces the release of Validated 12 (V12-Stage 1) AMSR-E Level-3 sea ice products.

NSIDC announces the release of a new data set containing Co-Registered AMSR-E, QuikSCAT, and WMO Data.

The DMSP SSM/I daily, polar gridded brightness temperatures now extend through 29 April 2009.

Quarterly processing is complete for both the AMSR-E/Aqua Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures and AMSR-E/Aqua Daily Global Quarter-Degree Gridded Brightness Temperatures data sets.

Processing of some SSM/I data is temporarily suspended due to the recent loss of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) F-13 satellite.

The AMSR-E Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) team re-initialized the multi-year sea ice mask on 05 October 2009 for Version 11 (V11) of the AMSR-E/Aqua Daily L3 12.5 km Brightness Temperatures, Sea Ice Concentration, and Snow Depth Polar Grids (AE_SI12) product. Re-initializing the multi-year sea ice mask will ensure that the

NSIDC has recently updated the Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and SSM/I DMSP Passive Microwave Data - Preliminary, and the Near-Real-Time DMSP SSM/I Daily Polar Gridded Sea Ice Concentrations.

Both the AMSR-E/Aqua Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures and AMSR-E/Aqua Daily Global Quarter-Degree Gridded Brightness Temperatures data sets have been updated.

NSIDC has adjusted the algorithm used in the Near-Real-Time SSM/I-SSMIS EASE-Grid Daily Global Ice Concentration and Snow Extent (NISE) Version 4 product.
