The Terra satellite successfully completed its Constellation Exit Maneuvers (CEM) on October 12 and 19, 2022.  The instruments have since returned to a nominal state and data processing and distribution resumed as of October 24.  Please note that there is a gap in coverage between October 10, 2022 and October 23, 2022 during which the satellite exercises and subsequent stabilization and Post-CEM calibrations took place.
The MEaSUREs Multi-year Reference Velocity Maps of the Antarctic Ice Sheet, Version 1 is now available from the National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set consists of three as-complete-as-possible maps of ice velocities on the Antarctic Ice Sheet for the time periods 1995-2001, 2007-2009, 2014-2017. The maps are posted at 450 m.
The ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height (ATL14) and ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height Change (ATL15) data sets, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been updated to Version 2.
The ICESat-2 L4 Along-Track Sea Ice Thickness, Version 1 (IS2SITDAT4) data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated to include data for April 2022.
The temporal coverage for the ICESat-2 L4 Monthly Gridded Sea Ice Thickness, Version 2 (IS2SITMOGR4) data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been extended to include data for April 2022.
The 01 January through 31 May 2022 data for the Near-Real-Time NOAA/NSIDC Climate Data Record of Passive Microwave Sea Ice Concentration, Version 2 data set, accessible through the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) have been removed. This data set provides a near-real-time (NRT) Climate Data Record (CDR) of sea ice concentration from passive microwave data.
The Near-Real-Time DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Daily Polar Gridded Brightness Temperatures, Version 2 data set is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). With Version 2, the data are now provided in NetCDF format and temporal coverage begins on 1 November 2021. Links to scripts that convert the NetCDF back to the original binary format are available in the data set documentation. The Version 1 data in binary format will remain available until 31 December 2022.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the NOAA/NSIDC Climate Data Record of Passive Microwave Sea Ice Concentration, Version 4 data set, accessible through the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), has been updated to include the time period of 01 January 2022 through 31 May 2022. This data set provides a consistent daily and monthly time series of sea ice concentrations from 25 October 1978 through 31 May 2022 for both the north and south polar regions on a 25 km x 25 km grid.
The Near Real-time SMAP L1B Radiometer Half-Orbit Time-Ordered Brightness Temperatures, Version 105 and Near Real-time SMAP L2 Radiometer Half-Orbit 36 km EASE-Grid Soil Moisture, Version 107 data sets, are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). These Near Real-Time data are available within three hours of satellite observation.
The MEaSUREs BedMachine Antarctica, Version 3 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), is now available. Additional ice thickness data have been used, thinning rates have been updated, and the International Bathymetric Chart of the Southern Ocean (IBCSO) version 2 has been used for ocean bathymetry. A new parameter, dataid, has also been added to help with identifying the data source used for each cell.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and -1B, Version 4 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated. New data from 31 March 2022 to 22 June 2022 have been added.
A Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Request for Information (RFI) was released on September 8, 2022 by the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES). This RFI seeks input from the science community that will be considered in the development and implementation of a Terra, Aqua, and Aura (T, A, & A) Drifting Orbits workshop. This workshop will be held virtually on November 1-2, 2022.
The Enhanced-Resolution SSM/I and AMSR-E Daily Polar Brightness Temperatures, Version 1 data set will be retired from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) on 31 October 2022. Access to the data will no longer be available, but the data set documentation will remain available for future reference.
The ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Monthly Gridded Dynamic Ocean Topography (ATL19), Version 1 data set, will be retired from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) on 28 October 2022.
The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has added 34 data sets from the Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 / Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ICESat-2/ATLAS) and Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation / Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (ICEsat/GLAS) satellite missions to NASA Earthdata Cloud.
