New version available: MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 3

The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 3 data set, accessible from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated to a new version and new data access options are also available. New data have been added so the data set now spans 1 March 1985 - 31 December 2019. The data from 2016-2019 have been reprocessed using a new feature tracking algorithm and within this time period there are now additional geoTIFFs for a new parameter, velocity magnitude (vv).

The data access location for this data set has also changed. Users accessing this data set through a script will need to update accordingly. The new data access URL is https://n5eil01u.ecs.nsidc.org/MEASURES/NSIDC-0646.003.

This data set is part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program. It consists of mean monthly velocity maps for selected glacier outlet areas. The maps are generated by tracking visible features between optical image pairs acquired by Landsat 4, 5, 7 and 8 and the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).
