The ATLAS/ICESat-2 L2A Global Geolocated Photon Data (ATL03), Version 6 data set, the ATLAS/ICESat-2 L2A Normalized Relative Backscatter Profiles (ATL04), Version 6 data set and the higher level products derived from ATL03 and ATL04, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been updated so entire data sets for Version 6 are now referenced to ITRF2014. There is an exception for the Land-Ice-Height-derived products (ATL11, ATL14 and ATL15) as those have a different reprocessing workflow and will be reprocessed at a later time. For the batch of data from 13 November 2022 to 26 October 2023, the geolocation inputs switched from ITRF2014 to ITRF2020 leading to an inconsistency in the Version 6 release (see Known Issues documentation for ATL03). Differences between ITRF2014 and ITRF2020 are relatively small, <~2 mm on average, but vary regionally. The reprocessing to ITRF2014 has been completed for this batch from 13 November 2022 to 26 October 2023 in Versions 6 of ATL03, ATL04 and their derived products for consistency across Version 6. All other batches of data for Version 6 were originally processed in ITRF2014. If you encounter multiple granules with the same file name, please use the granule with the highest revision number.
