About Daniel

Daniel Crumly is the Technical Services Group Manager at NSIDC.  The Technical Services Group is responsible for all the technical infrastructure at NSIDC, including the data storage, virtual and physical servers powering the many internal and external applications, and desktops provided to staff.  As the group manager, Crumly is responsible for understanding and guiding the infrastructure architecture, using system metrics to project future system performance and requirements, modeling the effect of system changes on future needs, and ensuring appropriate staffing to the myriad projects the group participates in.

Crumly's extensive experience in data operations equips him with historical knowledge of NSIDC's systems, offering valuable context for their ongoing evolution. Currently, he is actively engaged in NSIDC DAAC's cloud migration, serves on NSIDC's architecture team, and consistently advocates for the overall improvement and sustainment of NSIDC's operational software.
