User notice: OpenAltimetry performance updates - Improved elevation plot rendering and reinstated map/plot syncing

The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) is pleased to announce performance improvements to the ICESat-2 side of the  OpenAltimetry web application. These updates include:

  • Faster plot rendering.
  • Improved map rendering of data within files that cross a date boundary.
  • Reinstated map/elevation plot cursor syncing.
  • Reinstated point info pop-ups.
  • Reinstated ability to display and select all reference ground tracks in polar map views.
  • Fixed annotation bugs.

Note on dynamic caching of high resolution data: Initial views of an area of interest may load slowly the first time, but will render quickly upon subsequent views, as the data are cached locally and no longer require repeated OPeNDAP queries.
