The MEaSUREs Antarctic Grounding Line from Differential Satellite Radar Interferometry, Version 2 (NSIDC-0498), and the MEaSUREs Grounding Zone of the Antarctic Ice Sheet, Version 1 (NSIDC-0778) data sets, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been updated to versions 2.1 and 1.1, respectively. For NSIDC-0498, this minor version update includes an extended temporal coverage, with data now spanning 7 February 1992 to 26 November 2025, as well as an updated projection and additional data sources. NSIDC-0778 Version 1.1 has been updated based on the new data for NSIDC-0498 Version 2.1. Additionally, both datasets now offer the data in Shapefile and Geopackage formats.
The MEaSUREs Antarctic Grounding Line from Differential Satellite Radar Interferometry, Version 2.1 data set provides comprehensive high-resolution mapping of grounding lines in Antarctica from February 1992 through November 2025. The data were derived by applying differential satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (DInSAR) to SAR data acquired by various space-based platforms.
The MEaSUREs Grounding Zone of the Antarctic Ice Sheet, Version 1.1 data set provides a comprehensive map of the Antarctic Ice Sheet's grounding line migration zones caused by tidal fluctuations, providing polylines for both upstream and downstream boundaries. The limits are generated via an automated machine learning algorithm that processes InSAR data from Sentinel-1 and other satellite missions like COSMO-SkyMed and RADARSAT-2.
These data sets are part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
