Versions 4 of both ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height (ATL14) and ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height Change (ATL15) are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). ATL14 is a high-resolution (100 m) digital elevation model (DEM) that provides spatially continuous gridded data of ice sheet surface height.

The SnowEx23 Mar22 IOP Snow Depth Measurements, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains snow depth measurements from two regions of Alaska, USA collected during the March 2022 intensive observation period (IOP) as part of the NASA SnowEx 2023 field campaign.Temporal range spans from 8 March 2022 to 23 March 2022.

The Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Passive Microwave Data, Version 2 data set, available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated through 31 December 2023. This data set is generated from brightness temperature data and is designed to provide a consistent time series of sea ice concentrations spanning the coverage of several passive microwave instruments.

Version 2 of the Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This new version includes improvements in cross-sensor calibration and quality checking, modern file formats, better quality control, improved projection grids, and local time-of-day (LTOD) processing.

High Mountain Asia 4-km Dynamically Downscaled Meteorological Data, 2000-2015, Version 1 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains simulated meteorological data for the Indus Basin from 2000 through 2015, at three horizontal resolutions (36 km, 12 km, and 4 km) and nine pressure levels spanning 1000 hPa – 200 hPa.

The SnowEx20 Grand Mesa IOP Lidar and GPR-Derived Snow Water Equivalent and Snow Density, Version 1 and SnowEx20 Grand Mesa IOP QSI Lidar Snow Depth Data, Version 1 data sets are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). These data sets contain rasterized snow depth maps derived from lidar point cloud data collected from Grand Mesa, Colorado during the SnowEx20 campaign.

The Near Real-time SMAP L1B Radiometer Half-Orbit Time-Ordered Brightness Temperatures, Version 105 and Near Real-time SMAP L2 Radiometer Half-Orbit 36 km EASE-Grid Soil Moisture, Version 107 data sets, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been experiencing a data outage since 12:41 MT July 10th.

All SNPP VIIRS forward processing has been temporarily suspended due to a GPS anomaly issue that began on July 9, 2024. An attempt to restore nominal conditions is expected within the next week. Once the issue is resolved, data may still be held for additional testing and quality assurance before it is released to the public. The Bootstrap Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS, Version 4 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated to include new data through 31 December 2023. This data set consists of daily and monthly sea ice concentrations derived from brightness temperature measurements. This data set is available for the north and south polar regions, with a temporal coverage extending back to 1 November 1978.

Version 2 of SnowEx20 Time Series Snow Pit Measurements is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The data set is a time-series of snow pit measurements obtained during the 2020 campaign at locations throughout California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, and Utah, USA. Version 2 updates include: SWE algorithm correction, updated snow pit coordinates, and correction of transcription errors.

The DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Daily Polar Gridded Brightness Temperatures, Version 6 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated through 5 April 2024. This data set provides daily gridded brightness temperatures derived from passive microwave sensors and distributed in a polar stereographic projection.

The Near Real-time SMAP L1B Radiometer Half-Orbit Time-Ordered Brightness Temperatures, 105 and Near Real-time SMAP L2 Radiometer Half-Orbit 36 km EASE-Grid Soil Moisture, 107 data sets, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been experiencing a data outage since 18 June 2024 at approximately 10 am MT.

The following files from the High Mountain Asia Daily 5 km Downscaled SPEAR Precipitation and Air Temperature Projections, Version 1 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been replaced:

The MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and -1B, Version 4 and MEaSUREs Greenland 6 and 12 day Ice Sheet Velocity Mosaics from SAR, Version 2 data sets, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been updated. The temporal coverage for the image mosaics has been extended until 31 March 2024, and the 6 and 12 day velocity mosaics now spans until 19 March 2024.

The GLIMS Glacier Viewer now includes both versions 6.0 and 7.0 of the Randolph Glacier Inventory (RGI) outlines as layers.

The SnowEx23 Snow Water Equivalent, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains snow depth, snow water equivalent, and bulk snow density data collected during the NASA SnowEx 2023 field campaign.  Samples were collected using an Adirondack snow sampler from two study sites: Upper Kuparuk and Toolik, an arctic tundra environment in Northern Alaska, and Farmers Loop Creamers Field, a boreal

The SnowEx21 Time Series Snow Pits, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains a time-series of snow pit measurements obtained from sites distributed over four states (CO, ID, MT, UT) during the 2021 field campaign . Available measured parameters are: snow depth, snow temperature, snow density, stratigraphy, grain size, manual wetness, liquid water content , and snow water equivalent.

Beginning on May 11, 2024, MODIS/Terra began experiencing geolocation errors. This affected the geolocation accuracy of the Terra data between May 11 and 12 (DOY 132-133), 2024.  Terra L2s and dailies for these two days, as well as the 8 and 16-days products from DOY 129 will be reprocessed in the coming days.
