The Submarine Arctic Science Program (SCICEX) Science Advisory Committee (SAC) held their annual meeting in Arlington, VA on May 20-21, 2014. SCICEX is a collaboration between the U.S. Navy and the arctic marine research community to create a program to utilize nuclear-powered submarines for the study of the Arctic Ocean with the goal of acquiring data about the sea ice canopy, water properties, and bathymetry.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica 2008-2009 Image Map, consisting of two cloud-free digital image maps that show mean surface morphology and a quantitative measure of optical snow grain size on the Antarctic continent and surrounding islands.
NASA ICESat/GLAS Altimetry Release-34 binary format data for Laser 3B, 3C, and 3D campaigns are now available for products GLA05, GLA06, and GLA12-15.
The Canadian Meteorological Centre (CMC) Daily Snow Depth Analysis data set has been updated with new data for 2012. This data set now also includes daily and monthly analysis data for 01 August 1998 through 31 December 2012 and climatology data for 01 August 1998 to 31 December 2011. For complete details and documentation and to access these data, visit the Canadian Meteorological Centre (CMC) Daily Snow Depth Analysis Data Web page.

NSIDC is pleased to announce that the "DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Pathfinder Daily EASE-Grid Brightness Temperatures" data set has been updated through 31 May 2014 for all projections (North, South and Global). For more information or to access these data, please visit the data set landing page.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the complete archive of the Multisensor Analyzed Sea Ice Extent – Northern Hemisphere (MASIE-NH) data set, that runs from October 2006 through yesterday, is now available via FTP. In cooperation with the National Ice Center (NIC), NOAA@NSIDC publishes the MASIE-NH data product. This has been a rolling archive showing only the most recent four weeks of data. Users wanting a longer view of changes in sea ice were directed to products like the Sea Ice Index.
The Antarctic Glaciological Data Center (AGDC) at NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of a new data set, High-resolution Atmospheric CO2 during 7.4-9.0 ka. This data set provides a new CO2 record from the Siple Dome ice core, Antarctica, that covers 7.4-9.0 ka (thousand years) with 8- to 16-year resolution.

NSIDC has a new Arctic sea ice data set from NASA's Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program: MEaSUREs Arctic Sea Ice Characterization 25 km EASE-Grid 2.0. This data set, derived from passive microwave brightness temperatures, offers users daily Arctic sea ice locations, sea ice age, day of melt onset, and status of melt onset for the years 1979 through 2012. The data are gridded in the 25 km Equal-Area Scalable Earth Grid (EASE-Grid) 2.0 and provided as netCDF files.
