NOAA@NSIDC has updated their September and March Sea Ice Index sea ice animations in Google Earth with 2018 near-real-time data and replaced the 2016 and 2017 near-real-time images with final data. To access the Google Earth files, see the NSIDC Data on Google Earth page.
The Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) Validation Experiment 2016 Manitoba (SMAPVEX16), Version 1 data sets have been updated from a basic to a standard level of service at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). These twelve data sets are designed to calibrate and increase the accuracy of NASA’s SMAP products. In situ and aircraft data were collected between May and July 2016 in the Carman/Elk region of Manitoba, Canada.
The SnowEx17 KT-15 Infrared Brightness Temperature data set is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC).
The IceBridge DMS L3 Ames Stereo Pipeline Photogrammetric DEM data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set represents a collection of digital elevation models (DEMs) obtained by processing Operation IceBridge DMS stereo images and lidar data using the NASA Ames Stereo Pipeline. The data set is currently available for 2016 Greenland and Antarctica campaigns, and the 2017 Greenland campaign, covering dates from 19 April 2016 to 25 July 2017.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce that the NOAA@NSIDC Climate Data Record of Passive Microwave Sea Ice Concentration data product has been processed through 31 December 2017. The input data to the Goddard Bootstrap (BT) variables have been versioned up from v3.0 to v3.1 for 2017 data onward. This change does not affect the sea ice concentration CDR data variables.
The AMSR-E/AMSR2 Unified L3 Daily 25 km Brightness Temperatures & Sea Ice Concentration Polar Grids, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set includes six daily brightness temperature fields for channels ranging from 6.9 through 89.0 GHz, three daily sea ice concentration fields, and three daily sea ice concentration difference fields for ascending orbits, descending orbits, and full orbit daily averages.
Data set update: The Northern Hemisphere EASE-Grid 2.0 Weekly Snow Cover and Sea Ice Extent, Version 4 data set, distributed by the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been extended through 31 December 2017. This 25 x 25 km gridded product provides a consistent time series of sea ice concentrations from several passive microwave instruments and snow cover extent from the NOAA@NSIDC/NCDC Climate Data Record Program.
The SnowEx17 P-3 Airborne Video data set is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC).
The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Sheet Velocity Map from InSAR Data, Version 2 data set has been updated to include data from Winter 2017/2018 and is available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set, part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program, contains seasonal (winter) ice-sheet-wide velocity maps for Greenland.
All Aquarius soil moisture products have been updated to Version 5 and are now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). These data sets provide swath-based Level-2 and gridded Level-3 soil moisture estimates from the NASA Aquarius passive microwave radiometer on the Satélite de Aplicaciones Científicas (SAC-D). Data are available from August 2011 through the end of the Aquarius mission in June 2015.
