The SMAP satellite returned to science mode and resumed collecting science data on 23 July 2019 at 22:28 UTC. These data are now available. The SMAP science team has completed a preliminary data assessment and flagged the first ~25 seconds for quality concerns, as described in this advisory note. A more detailed quality assessment and a description of what caused the SMAP outage will be provided at a later date. NSIDC will continue to post updates as we learn more.
