NOAAl@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of Version 3 Revision 1 of the NOAA@NSIDC Climate Data Record of Passive Microwave Sea Ice Concentration data product. The reason for the revision change was to incorporate a new version of the input data product, Bootstrap Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS. Another reason was to update the data that use the SSMIS instrument to also use the SSMIS pole hole mask.
The NASA IceBridge UAF Lidar Scanner L1B Geolocated Surface Elevation Triplets data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated through 28 August 2017.
Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/AATE4JJ91EHC
The NASA IceBridge KT19 IR Surface Temperature data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated through 18 November 2016.
Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/I883KXU7ZO8O
NSIDC DAAC would like to announce a change to data access for the MEaSUREs InSAR-Based Ice Velocity of the Amundsen Sea Embayment, Antarctica, Version 1 data set. Data access is now solely through our primary archive at: https://n5eil01u.ecs.nsidc.org/MEASURES/NSIDC-0545.001/.
NSIDC DAAC Updates Bootstrap Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Data Set
The Bootstrap Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated to Version 3. The following changes were made to this version of data:
Version 1 of the VIIRS/NPP Sea Ice Cover 6-Min L2 Swath 375 m (VNP29) data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC).
The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has published a new data set: Greenland Annual Accumulation along the EGIG Line, 1959–2004, from Airborne Radar and Neutron Probe Densities. This data set reports mean annual snow accumulation rates (meters water equivalent) at 3 meter intervals along a 250 km segment of the Expéditions Glaciologiques Internationales au Groenland (EGIG) line.
The NASA IceBridge Ku-Band Radar L1B Geolocated Radar Echo Strength Profiles data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated through 18 November 2016.
Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/D7DX7J7J5JN9
The NASA IceBridge Snow Radar L1B Geolocated Radar Echo Strength Profiles data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated through 18 November 2016. Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/FAZTWP500V70
The beta version of the SMAP/Sentinel-1 L2 Radiometer/Radar 30-Second Scene 3 km EASE-Grid Soil Moisture data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). L-band radiometer measurements from the SMAP satellite and C-band radar measurements from the European Space Agency (ESA) Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite are combined to produce high-resolution soil moisture estimates for this product. The SMAP Science Data System (SDS) began forward processing for the data on 27 October 2017.
The September 2017 data is now available for the MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and 1B, Version 2 data set at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/GPVL3SACPBW4
The Daily Global Land Parameters Derived from AMSRE and AMSR2, Version 2 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The Version 2 data were processed for the complete AMSRE operational record (19 June 2002 to 4 October 2011) and part of the AMSR2 record (24 July 2012 to 30 June 2017), with planned updates and LPDR continuity enabled from continuing AMSR2 operations.
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of Sea Ice Index Version 3 (V3). V3 changes the way the monthly average area and extent data values are calculated. The way monthly average area and extent images are created remains the same as in V2. All daily data remain the same as in V2. The V3 method simply averages daily extent values, while the V2 method derived monthly average values from the gridded monthly-average concentration field.
MEaSUREs Annual Greenland Outlet Glacier Terminus Positions from SAR Mosaics, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) as version 1.2. For this minor version, glaciers were added to two winters:
2006/2007 -- glaciers 90 and 91
2008/2009 -- glaciers 1-9, 90, and 91
This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) would like to announce new updates for MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 2. The updates include the following:
The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has added SMMR data to the MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR, Version 1 data set.
Also, the F10 data from this data set is now available at version 1.2. The minor change in this version corrects the handling of QC flags to retain more data, eliminating only the flagged data in a given channel and taking care not to eliminate data in other channels.
NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) would like to announce new data available for MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and 1B, Version 2 data set. August 2017 data has been added.
This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
