Figure 3. The graph on the left shows the average snow albedo over the western United States in relation to the 23-year satellite record. Note that the low values in October and early November were caused by missing data acquisitions as NASA performed satellite maneuvers to change the orbit of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Terra.
