Hello all. I hope everyone is having a good start to the new year!
In case you missed Magnus's message to Cryolist, the recording of the IGS
seminar from January 15 on the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation
(IYGP) is available (https://youtu.be/styDMY16xtU). I was one of four
speakers (together with Liss Andreassen, Hrafnhildur Hannesdottir, and
Hester Jiskoot) and talked about how GLIMS tracks "vanished" (or extinct)
glaciers.
I also asked for data on vanished glaciers; if you have a list of glaciers
in your region that have disappeared (or become small enough not to be
glaciers), please consider submitting the data to GLIMS (to my address or
glacierdata at nsidc.org). More information on how to do this is at
https://www.glims.org/MapsAndDocs/extinct_glaciers_guide.html
(I apologize for our terrible Microsoft "safety" feature that makes links
unreadable.)
Best regards,
Bruce
