tenure track faculty position for an interdisciplinary glaciologist or
geophysicist with expertise in glacier and ice sheet, solid earth, and
ocean interactions who will complement UAF's existing expertise in glacier
dynamics. The successful incumbent will address interdisciplinary problems
in glaciology, such as the response of glaciers to climate change and the
contribution of glaciers and ice sheets to sea level change. Applicants
who address these or closely related glaciological problems using field
observations, theoretical/modeling studies, or both and candidates who
include, or plan to include, Alaska and arctic glaciers in their research
program are encouraged to apply. This position is a joint appointment
between the Geology and Geophysics Department and the Geophysical
Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The incumbent will be
expected to teach a graduate-level class in Glaciology, plus an additional
course to be determined. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in
Geology/Geophysics or a related field and must be capable of maintaining a
strong, externally-funded research program. Applicants should have the
ability and willingness to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate
