Dear GLIMS Colleagues,

FYI, I forward the following notice of the EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly, to
be held next April in Nice, France. Please look at the meeting program,
and note that there will be many ice-related sessions. Among them are the
following, which do not include many other sessions on climate change,
snow, sea ice, hydrology, permafrost, and other topics that may also
interest you. Several sessions, marked by **, are directly relevant to
GLIMS, and I encourage you to submit papers. If you would be further
interested in holding a 1- or 2-day GLIMS workshop, possibly including a
training session for use of glacier analysis tools, then please indicate
your interest (and reconfirm if you have already registered your interest
with me).

Besides encouraging your participation in the Nice meeting, I also note
that next March there will be an interesting GLIMS-related meeting, "Mass
Balnce of Andean glaciers," to be held March 12-13, 2003 in Valdivia Chile,
with additional opportunity for field trips (For more meeting info, see
http://www.cecs.cl/MassBalance/firstannouncement.pdf). With sufficient
interest by the GLIMS project, we would hold a small GLIMS
algorithm/training session, possibly a 1-day meeting, if meeting logistics
can be arranged.

It is important that you register your interest in either meeting as soon
as possible so that we can make further plans for a GLIMS workshop.

Sincerely,

Jeff K
