News from the EDC DAAC

In support of NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) mission, the U.S.
Geological Survey
EROS Data Center (EDC) serves as the Distributed Active Archive Center
(DAAC) for
Land Processes data acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging
Spectroradiometer (MODIS)
and the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission/Reflection Radiometer (ASTER)
instruments on
NASA's Terra satellite. Visit the EDC DAAC at (http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/)
for more detailed information
on the ASTER (http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/aster/asterdataprod.html) and MODIS
(http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/modis/dataprod.html) data products that are
available.

The EDC DAAC now offers CD-ROM, DVD, and DLT as media options for the
distribution
of ASTER and MODIS data products that are ordered through the EOS Data
Gateway at
(http://edcimswww.cr.usgs.gov/pub/imswelcome).

The EDC DAAC, in collaboration with the South Dakota School of Mines and
Technology,
announces the availability of the MODIS Reprojection Tool (MRT). The MRT
reads MODIS land
data products that are in HDF-EOS format and geographically referenced
using the Integerized
Sinusoidal (ISIN) projection, and it allows conversion of the data to
alternative file formats and
cartographic projections. This software is available at no cost, and more
information is available at
(http://edc.usgs.gov/programs/sddm/modisdist/index.shtml).
