please share your experience with DEM holes

Hi all,

We're looking into the question of DEM quality -- in particular, holes in
DEMs as produced from ASTER data (including DEMs from EDC). If you have
ordered or created DEMs using software that leaves holes (that is, doesn't
automatically interpolate all holes), could you please write us and let us
know

- where most of the holes show up (e.g. accumulation area, north-facing
  slopes, etc.)

- how this impacts your work (e.g. causes difficulty in identifying flow
  divides, etc.)

- what you've done to get around the problem.

We're looking into a method to patch up DEMs that might be of benefit to
the GLIMS community, and would like a better understanding of the nature
of the problems faced by the GLIMS community in using ASTER-derived DEMs.

Thanks,
Bruce Raup and Siri Jodha Singh Khalsa
