SMAP Data

On Wednesday, 2 September 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until noon (USA Mountain Time), AMSR-E, Aquarius, IceBridge, ICESat/GLAS, MODIS, NISE, and SMAP data will be unavailable for ordering due to system maintenance.

SMAP science data will be available starting in Summer 2015 at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) and the NASA Alaska Satellite Facility Distributed Active Archive Center (ASF DAAC) as indicated in the table below. Data sets in bold are currently available.

1 Mean latency under normal operating conditions (defined as time from data acquisition by the observatory to availability in the public data archive).

2 Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBDs) provide physical and mathematical descriptions of the algorithms used in the generation of science data. The ATBDs include a description of variance and uncertainty estimates as well as considerations of calibration and validation, exception control, and diagnostics. Internal and external data flows are also described.

3 NSIDC and ASF are Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs), NASA-designated data centers.
