NSIDC has been notified of an error in AMSR-E sea ice data products that caused valid data in the Southern Hemisphere to be obscured by a land mask.
Algorithms for AMSR-E sea ice data have been updated, and reprocessing from the beginning of the mission onward is currently underway for these products.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has completed reprocessing of the AMSR-E/Aqua L1A Raw Observation Counts data set to Version 3.
As of 06:58 UTC on 04 October 2011, the AMSR-E instrument on board the Aqua satellite stopped producing data due to a problem with the rotation of its antenna.
