<p>The Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Nebraska
at Omaha
<br>invites applications for two Post-Doctoral research positions involving
the use of
<br>remote sensing/GIS for studying and mapping alpine glaciers in Afghanistan
and Pakistan.
<br>This work is part of the international Global Land Ice Measurements
from Space (GLIMS)
<br>project that has been funded by NASA. The successful candidates should
have a Ph.D. in
<br>geography, geology, or related fields (ABD will be considered).
Experience in remote
<br>sensing, GIS, and Earth science is required. Preference will be given
to candidates with
<br>strong numerical, computer, and communication skills. Work duties
include contributing
<br>to ongoing research involving glacier mapping, change detection, surface
energy budget,
<br>glacier flow modeling, and the population of the GLIMS database. Research
positions are
<br>to start January 2005, and applications will be taken and reviewed
until successful candidates
<br>are found. Positions are available for three years pending annual
review and availability of funds.
