Service Interruption

Join us at the University of Colorado in Boulder for the American Polar Society Symposium 2000. The symposium will be held in brand new facilities on the University campus, with lodging at local hotels.

SYMPOSIUM THEMES

Where Have All the Data Gone?
Many data sets were collected in the early years of Antarctic and Arctic research. Where are these data? How important are they for current research?

From Dog Sled to Satellite
Current data collection techniques are far different from those of expeditions in the 1950s -- comparisons and contrasts in observing systems, logistics support, history

Human Impacts on the Polar Environment
How has human presence influenced polar regions? Pollution events and their cleanup, tourism, military operations, influences of mid-latitude culture.
