Ice and Climate News No. 9 with focus on mountain cryosphere
Dear GLIMSList-subscriber, We would like to draw your attention to the Ice and Climate News No. 9: http://clic.npolar.no/newsletters/archive/ice_climate_2007_06_no_09.pdf This recent CliC newsletter focuses on the mountain cryosphere and includes an article (p. 4) about present state and current challenges of the worldwide glacier monitoring jointly written by the officers in charge of the organizations coordinating the international monitoring of glaciers and ice caps, i.e. the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS), the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), and the Global Land Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS) initiative. Another article (p. 5) gives an overview on the new GlobGlacier project funded by the European Space Agency which aims at making a major contribution to GLIMS.
