GLIMS Student/Young Researcher Travel
Stipend/Awards:
(for those not
residing in New Zealand)
Students and young researchers (within 3 years of receiving a degree) are especially encouraged to prepare and submit an abstract for the GLIMS meeting planned for New Zealand on 6-10 February, 2006. Those who are in need of financial assistance are encouraged to indicate their interest in the meeting to Shulamit Gordon and to indicate their need for travel funding assistance. Currently funds are available to support two US$1,000 travel stipends. If more funds are received in support of this fund, more stipends may be made available for this meeting.
Stipends will be disbursed via a competitive selection based on the technical merit and compelling content of the students' abstracts; their CVs; and a brief statement of financial need (this latter statement can be a simple email addressed to Shulamit Gordon, with CV attached). Students at the senior undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels are encouraged to apply, as are young researchers who have received a degree in the last 3 years and are actively working in glaciology, remote sensing, or related fields.
