Frozen Ground Temperature Variations, East Andean Range, 1995-2005, Version 1
Data set id:
GGD1

Overview

This data set includes air and soil temperatures from the East Andean Range. The goals of the project were 1) to understand air and ground temperature variations as a function of elevation in seasonally frozen ground (below 3000 m) and in permafrost (above 3000 m) and to determine the cause of such variations; 2) to monitor gelifluction and rock glaciers; 3) to measure retreat of snow patches and mountain lakes; and 4) to compare the observed variations with those in other permafrost mountain regions. Air temperature and ground temperature (down to 5 m) were recorded continuously beginning in 1995.
