The Images of Antarctic Ice Shelves data set (NSIDC-0102), accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated to Version 2. This data set contains images of ice shelves considered the most susceptible to rapid change due to climatic warming and those that occasionally calve major icebergs. This monitoring effort began using AVHRR 1 Km images and later included MODIS images from both Terra and Aqua. The scenes are derived from either the visible or the thermal channels. This data set was recently transferred to the NSIDC DAAC and includes newly published data through September 2020. Forward processing will resume shortly to update the archive to present day. The Image Archive/Data Access Tool will remain available, however, it does not yet include the latest data files. There are plans to update tool later this year to include the most recent data. AVHRR images are available from 1989 August to October 2001, while MODIS images are available from March 2000 to September 2020.
