U.S. National Ice Center. 2019 October 28. U.S. National Ice Center Products Catalog Version 1.0</Reference><Summary>
The marginal ice zone (MIZ) is defined by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as &#x201C;the region of an ice cover which is affected by waves and swell penetrating into the ice from the open ocean&#x201D; (WMO, 2014). This data product is a U.S. National Ice Center (USNIC) rendering of the MIZ as the band of ice in concentrations between 1/10 and 8/10, or about 10% to 80% concentration, that surrounds Arctic and Antarctic pack ice with higher concentrations. The time series begins in September 2004 for the Arctic and January 2010 for the Antarctic.
</Summary><Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>VIEW RELATED INFORMATION</Type></URL_Content_Type><URL>https://nsidc.org/data/g10017/versions/1</URL></Related_URL><Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>GET DATA</Type></URL_Content_Type><URL>https://noaadata.apps.nsidc.org/NOAA/G10017/</URL><Description>HTTPS</Description></Related_URL><Metadata_Name>CEOS IDN DIF</Metadata_Name><Metadata_Version>VERSION 9.9</Metadata_Version><DIF_Creation_Date>2020-08-25</DIF_Creation_Date><Last_DIF_Revision_Date>2026-09-15</Last_DIF_Revision_Date><Extended_Metadata><Metadata><Group>NSIDC</Group><Name>Version Summary</Name><Value>Initial release.</Value></Metadata><Metadata><Group>NSIDC</Group><Name>Minor Version</Name><Value/></Metadata><Metadata><Group>NSIDC</Group><Name>Current Version</Name><Value>1</Value></Metadata><Metadata><Group>NSIDC</Group><Name>Level of Service</Name><Value><Level>Comprehensive</Level></Value></Metadata><Metadata><Group>NSIDC</Group><Name>Full Dataset Citation</Name><Value>U.S. National Ice Center.
