The Detailed Document Search Form allows you to get a uniform set of detailed descriptions for one or more data sets and related entities, containing information suitable for determining the location and content of each data set and its potential usefulness for a specific application. Select this option if you would like detailed descriptions in document format for system valid keywords.
A detailed document search can be done on any high level attribute or for specific data sets. You must limit the search with at least one attribute from one or more of the following categories: campaign, data center, data set, parameter, sensor, or source. You can also search for any string within the documents by entering a text string and starting a search.
This search will provide you with a single list of documents from all the data centers which are believed to have the appropriate information. The relevance of each document is a rough measure of how well the document is believed to match your search criteria. Relevances range from "highest" (best matches) to "very low" (worst matches). Several other items - the number of lines and bytes in the file, last update - are also provided when available.
If you compose a search that consists of only Parameter attribute selections the search will retrieve documents of type "data set". This is because the documents describe specific collections, instruments, etc., but are not written about a specific parameter.
Choose keywords from one or more categories
As an example, say we choose Parameters: ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE, SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE; Sensor: ACCELEROMETER; and Data Center: JPL. This would be assembled as
Type in text
A second way to create a detailed document search is to enter the text you want to search for as keywords and/or phrases in the scrolling text box.
You may use boolean connectives to make more complex searches. Items OR'ed together will select documents containing any of the items. Items AND'ed together will select documents containing all of the items. For example:
Choose Additional Options
Max Detailed Documents per data center: The maximum number of documents to return for a detailed document search per data center.
Query Name: The name the system will try to give to the query when you save the query (download) to your local machine. Note, that some versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer ignore this and create their own bizarre file names.
Start Search
Once you've specifed a campaign, data center, data set, parameter, sensor, source, or text string, or a combination of these, click the "Start Search" button to start your search.
Upload/Download a Query
This function is at the bottom of the page. If you've named your query, you can download a copy of it to your local machine and save it by clicking on the Download query button. If you've already got a saved query, you can click on the browse button to show the browser where your query is and then upload it with the Upload Query button. The search type will be set to your current selection and not the search type from the uploaded file.
Search Types
Using these links located on the lower left side of the page, you can switch to the Primary Data Search Form, Local Granule ID Search, Data Granule ID Search, Summary Document Search Form, or the AIRS Browse Search by clicking on the proper link.
You can also switch to the Primary Data Search Form by clicking the link at the top of the page.
