Slide #19: Ice Sheet Elevation
The ice sheet surface rises steeply at its edge, but progressively less towards the Pole. Here are our elevation measurements for the first 13 km. The elevation of the ice-rock base was estimated from gravity measurements at the surface. Ice (or rock!) temperatures measured 10 m below the surface are roughly equal to the mean annual air temperature above. Original Slide 19 of 30.
