From Page 12: "Loading an explosive charge in the seismic shot hole. In this photograph, the shot hole shown in figure 4 has filled with sea water. Explosive charges were pushed through the hole for detonation beneath the ice. Repeated shooting each day kept the hole from freezing closed."
