As part of the Discovery and Access of Historic Literature from the IPYs (DAHLI) project in 2008, the National Snow and Ice Data Center NSIDC) collaborated with the Carnegie Institution of Washington to digitize their Polar Year (IPY) and International Geophysical Year (IGY) holdings. The digitization effort began in 2008 and was finished in 2010. This collection is composed of IPY/IGY related works, such as publications, diagrams, recordings of data, and photographs.
Most of the items in this collection were created as a result of the work of the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism. The Department provided NSIDC with images from their archives that document research that was completed at and around College Station, Alaska during the Second International Polar Year from 1932-1933. Additionally, the Department's library also provided NSIDC with other IPY 2 and IGY 1957-1958 publications for their addition to the IPY Historical Literature collection.
For more information on items in this collection please contact the librarian at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism (e-mail: library@dtm.ciw.edu).
