Roger Barry Named Humboldt Fellow

World Data Center Director and NSIDC scientist Roger Barry has been granted a prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The award is reserved for "researchers whose fundamental discoveries, insights or new theories have had a lasting impact on their field of specialization," according to the Foundation's Web site.

Barry plans to use the fellowship to work at the Commission for Glaciology at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. He will work at the Commission from May through November 2009; he also expects to write a new book on the cryosphere during this time.
