The International Polar Year gave the entire
world a chance to learn more about the cold regions of our planet.
Scientists from all disciplines turned their attention to the cryosphere—the
Arctic, Antarctica, and all the cold places in between. So what are those
cold places, and why are they important? To learn more, visit the sites
below.

Silavut: Inuit Voices in a Changing World
This exhibition relates
the story of climate change through the eyes of the Inuit. Arctic
peoples are witnessing changes to the environment that has sustained
them for a thousand years. NSIDC and the University of Colorado Museum,
Boulder collaborated on the development of “Silavut, which opened April 15, 2008, and ran through May 1, 2009 at the University of Colorado Museum. The exhibit will soon travel to other museums. For more information, visit the University of Colorado Museum Web site.
