Beginning in 1995, geocryological maps published in the USSR (Former Soviet Union, FSU) and Russia were identified and cataloged to form an inventory. This bibliography was compiled in 1998 by Irena Streletskaya and Marina Leibman, Earth Cryosphere Institute Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch (ECI SB RAS), under the framework of the International Permafrost Association (IPA) and its Global Geocryological Data (GGD) system. The Russian Permafrost Map Bibliography contains information on 732 maps compiled and published from the 1930s through 1997, and is current as of March 1998.
Maps may be browsed online through a Map Index compiled by Lee Ann Gerhart, R.A. Kreig & Associates, Anchorage, Alaska, USA.
A detailed description of the bibliography provides information on sources, overall coverage of the maps, and an explanation of the online index.
