Version 0.1 - 2010-01-19
Reason For Release
NSIDC is changing our user access model from Search and Order (Wait and Download) to Discovery and Access with our new Beta Advanced Data Search Tool, which delivers data downloads immediately, with the user in control of on-the-fly reformatting, reprojection, and subsetting of the data. In this way, we are delivering only what the user wants, and how they want it. The sooner our users can obtain what they want, in a format they can quickly understand and use, the more time they have to devote to their own scientific investigations. Our new Beta Advanced Data Search Tool supports users finding and browsing actual data holdings online. No more waiting for FTP staging followed by lengthy research to open and view data, only to find that it is not what you wanted or expected. Currently, the new Beta Advanced Data Search Tool includes 13 of NSIDC's most popular data sets. We plan on making all of our data holdings discoverable with this tool later in 2010.
