MODIS Aqua Version 5 Snow and Sea Ice Products Reprocessing Plan

On January 1, 2007, processing of the Aqua forward stream will transition from Version 4 (V004) data to Version 5 (V005) data. At that point, only V005 data will be available for newly acquired data. Reprocessing of existing Aqua MODIS data is expected to begin in mid-2007 and is expected to take about a year. The reprocessing plan is to start with the earliest data of the Aqua mission and proceed in a time sequential order.

For your reference, the MODIS Aqua Version 5 Snow and Sea Ice Products Reprocessing Plan is illustrated below with the use of three timelines. Thus, timeline number one shows what data are currently available for each version. Timeline number two shows what data will be available in mid-2007. And timeline number three shows what data will be available once the reprocessing campaign is complete in mid-2008.
