The MODIS Climate Modeling Grid (CMG) Browse Images are only available for Version 4 (V004) MODIS data from this Web page. NSIDC does not produce CMB browse imagery for Version 5 (V005) MODIS data since browse is now available for all products with the exeception of MOD10CM and MYD10CM through each of the order interface options such as the EOS Data Gateway (EDGE), the Data Pool, SNOWI, and MODIS SNOWI.
The high spatial resolution and temporal frequency of the MODIS land products are advantageous for many studies, but the resulting large volume of data can make analysis and ordering data difficult. The MODIS CMG Browse page provides quick access to reduced-resolution JPEG images of only Terra and Aqua daily global snow cover in a CMG. The smaller file size of these images allows users to browse data and identify regions of interest.
The images are organized by date, making it easy to find data for a particular day or time series. New images are added daily; images from previous dates will be added over time.
There is no direct link from the reduced-resolution images available here to the full-resolution CMG data product. Find recent Terra and Aqua CMG products through the Data Pool. Search for CMG and other data using the EOS Data Gateway. Also visit
