Operation IceBridge Standard Projections for Gridded Data
NSIDC adheres to the following standard projections for Operation IceBridge projected gridded data types.
Arctic
The standard projection parameters for Northern hemisphere Operation IceBridge data are:
Polar Stereographic
Standard Parallel 70° N
Longitude of the origin (central meridian): 45° W
WGS 84 ellipsoid
This projection is defined as EPSG:3413.

This projection is used by the following related data sets:
- Digital SAR Mosaic and Elevation Map of the Greenland Ice Sheet
- GLAS/ICESat 1 km Laser Altimetry Digital Elevation Model of Greenland
Antarctic
The standard projection parameters for Southern hemisphere Operation IceBridge data are:
Polar Stereographic
Standard Parallel 71° S
Longitude of the origin (central meridian): 0°
WGS 84 ellipsoid
This projection is defined as EPSG:3031.

This projection is used by the following related data sets:
- RAMP AMM-1 SAR Image Mosaic of Antarctica
- Radarsat Antarctic Mapping Project Digital Elevation Model Version 2
- Antarctic 1 km Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from Combined ERS-1 Radar and ICESat Laser Satellite Altimetry
