Overview

Ice sheet elevation data sets are used to create surface elevation maps of Greenland and Antarctica. These maps contribute to the study of glaciers, ice sheets, ice streams, and ice shelves. Please see our Data Summaries page for a descriptions of the current ice sheet elevation products available at NSIDC.

Many of the maps produced from elevation data sets are Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), which facilitate ice sheet mass balance investigations and the tracking of long-term changes in ice sheets and other cryospheric formations.
