Additional map projections are now supported through the Atlas of the Cryosphere (http://nsidc.org/data/atlas/) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS), including several northern hemisphere polar projections recently added in version 6.12 of the European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG) Geodetic Parameter Dataset on February 8, 2007. For the full list of EPSG codes that the Atlas of the Cryosphere currently supports, see the summary table below. To request support for additional EPSG codes, please contact NSIDC User Services (nsidc@nsidc.org) to the attention of John Maurer. Note that the web interface for the Atlas of the Cryosphere employs either the northern or southern hemisphere Lambert azimuthal equal-area NSIDC EASE-Grid EPSG Codes (EPSG:3408 and EPSG:3409, respectively). For more details about accessing Atlas of the Cryosphere OGC services, click here. These international specifications provide a framework for sharing maps and geospatial data over the internet.
