Documentation    Order Data

The Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) instrument on the NASA Earth Observing System (EOS) Aqua satellite provides global passive microwave measurements of land, ocean, and atmospheric variables for the investigation of water and energy cycles.

This Level-3 gridded product (AE_SID) includes sea ice speed and direction generated by applying the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) wavelet transform algorithm to AMSR-E brightness temperatures. Daily drift data are averaged over five-day intervals and are mapped to a polar stereographic grid at 6.25 km spatial resolution. Drift parameters sea ice speed and direction were determined using the 89 GHz Horizontal (H) channel of the AMSR-E L3 6.25 km brightness temperature product. Data are stored in HDF-EOS format and are available from 01 June 2011 to present via FTP.
