McMurdo Dry Valleys Long-Term Ecological Research (MCM LTER) Core Glacier Mass Balance Data, Antarctica, Version 1
Data set id:
NSIDC-0421

Overview

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor mass balance of the Taylor Valley glaciers. Data were collected from the Canada, Commonwealth, Howard, Hughes, Suess and Taylor glaciers, located in the Taylor Valley of Antarctica. Monitoring the changes in these measurements over time provides a record of mass balance, and aids in determining the role of glaciers in the polar hydrologic cycle.
